There are many police involved incidents where the character, morals,
and ethics of the officer(s) involved was put into question. An example of this involves
the shooting of unarmed minorities by police officer, their actions may have been the
direct result of their biasness or racism, and this could have been the driving factor for the
officer(s) use of force, and not so much the apparent threat. What I want from you all is
to pick an incident involving police use of force and answer some questions:
A background of the case (what was the initial incident that took place and led up to the
force being applied)
What role did the civilian play, if any, that might have contributed to this confrontation
(Disobeying commands, mental health, armed with a knife or firearm, unarmed, etc)
What steps did the civilian or officer take to de-escalate the situation AND what led up to
force being applied on either side.
Do you agree with totality of the circumstances and the resulting end to the
confrontation?
How would you have handled the situation differently if placed in the same exact
situation.
